The Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy at Palm Beach Atlantic University is pleased to offer an Enhanced Community Pharmacy Services Fellowship. This training program is designed to provide the fellow with a foundation in community-based enhanced pharmacy services. The trainee who completes this program will have an opportunity to refine clinical practice skills, develop skills in implementing clinical services and practice-based research, engage in entrepreneurial and business management activities, and gain experience in teaching student pharmacists. This program is 12 months in duration. PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency experience is preferred but not required. The fellow must also be eligible for licensure in Florida. Appointment includes PBA benefits and a competitive stipend and professional development funds.

Palm Beach Atlantic University is a Christ centered university with a focus on character formation. The Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy at Palm Beach Atlantic University exists to produce servant leaders within the pharmacy profession. This faith-based program prepares pharmacists as servant leaders within the profession and provides practitioners with unique opportunities and experiences in the community-based pharmacy setting. The fellow will receive an appointment as an instructor of pharmacy practice. The fellow may elect to complete a teaching certificate program within the School of Pharmacy.
Atlantis Pharmacy is an independent community pharmacy located one block north of JFK Medical center, a 486-bed acute care medical and surgical facility with comprehensive services including cardiovascular care, orthopedics, behavioral health and emergency services. The mission of the pharmacy is to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to provide optimal pharmaceutical care to all patients. The pharmacy delivers comprehensive MTM services that include INR check, BP monitoring, diabetes care, and medication reviews. In addition, both JFK Medical Center and JFK Internal Medicine and Faculty Practice collaborate with the pharmacy to achieve positive patient outcomes. Atlantis Pharmacy is a member of Community Pharmacy Enhanced Services Network (CPESN) Florida and Erin Dorval (preceptor) is a Luminary and Payer Engagement Expert for CPESN Florida.
The Prescription Shop of Stuart is an independent, locally owned pharmacy that has served the Treasure Coast for over 56 years. The team at Prescription Shop of Stuart aims to make every patient feel that they are cared for like family. Prescription Shop of Stuart offers numerous clinical services, including: patient-centered medication dispensing, free home delivery, medication synchronization, medication therapy management, immunizations, non-sterile compounding, durable medical equipment, diabetes supplies, and health screenings. Additional areas of interest for the pharmacy include diabetes education, long-acting injectable antipsychotic administration, chronic care management, and test-and-treat for influenza and streptococcus infections. Prescription Shop of Stuart is a member of CPESN Florida and Kimberly Jones (pharmacy owner) serves as a Luminary for CPESN Florida.
Program Structure
Patient Care (65%): The fellow will provide direct patient care with two innovative community-based pharmacy partners – Atlantis Pharmacy and the Prescription Shop of Stuart. Patient care services include, but are not limited to, patient-centered medication dispending, comprehensive medication review, immunizations, medication synchronization, and point-of-care testing. Additional patient care opportunities may be available at the pharmacy practice sites.
Leadership and Management (15%): The fellow will gain essential skills related to clinical service strategic planning and implementation. The fellow will have opportunities to engage in entrepreneurial activities and learn about business management. The fellow will demonstrate effective self- and time-management in daily activities. The fellow will apply personal leadership strengths through mentorship of student pharmacists and collaborations with other health care providers. The fellow will explore leadership opportunities within state and national professional associations. The fellow will be provided opportunities to engage with the Luminaries and Network Facilitator of CPESN Florida.
Advancement of Community-based Practice and Improving Patient Care (12.5%): The fellow will actively work to improve existing enhanced pharmacy services or implement new enhanced pharmacy services at the partner pharmacy practice site. The fellow will develop and execute a business plan for a clinical service and relevant policies and procedures for the practice site. The fellow will have opportunities to train or coach CPESN Florida pharmacies on practice transformation initiatives and/or clinical services as opportunities arise. The fellow will conduct a practice-based research project, including design, implementation, data collection, data analysis and dissemination.
Teaching, Education, and Dissemination of Knowledge (7.5%): The fellow will provide oral presentations and written materials (through CPESN Florida) to pharmacists. The fellow will provide in-service presentations to train internal team members, external team members, and community partners. The fellow will be provided opportunities for didactic teaching within the PBAU curriculum. The fellow will employ effective precepting and feedback to students. In collaboration with academic and practice partners, the fellow will disseminate best practices and results of practice-based research through presentation and/or publication.
